Rehabilitative Yoga Therapy

This is an approach to yoga that is akin to that of physical therapy.

My involvement with yoga as a rehabilitative modality is related to my life-long rich history of dealing with sport's injuries, my experience as a rehabilitative physical therapist at the USF Physical Therapy Center, and the Tampa Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center.

As a staunch believer in the long term benefits of exercise and movement when embraced with regularity and mindfulness, combined to my 'humbly' fitting background, when it comes to Rehabilitate Yoga Therapy, I strive to design a practice that will allow you to do that 'thing' you use to love doing, but can't anymore - and I'm mainly talking about physical activities you can legally do in public.

Now, don't get too excited, I'm no miracle worker. I have to be honest with you. This Yoga Therapy thing requires a can-do attitude, diligence, patience, courage, and hard work, mostly from your part.

How does it work? Well, ideally it's a private session in which I will guide you to apply awareness, attention and intention through movement, stillness and breath, with emphasis on safety, alignment and proper breathing.

Ps: Obviously, relaxation is also part of the regiment. You shall get your savasana time!

Holistic Yoga Therapy

This is yoga approached as a overall wellness improving modality. Holistic Yoga Therapy taps into the wisdom of Yogic Science in relation to the treatment of various psycho-behavioral and emotional imbalances.

Holistic Yoga therapy relies on the application of principles and methodologies anchored in Raja yoga, Tantra, the Bhagavad Gita, Alchemy and Shamanism. Alchemy and Shamanism are listed here due to their intrinsic relationship to yoga their common spiritual root -as in the first human expression of spirituality.

My credentials here stem from my having spent, at least, a good three decades trying to figure out what it actually and really meant to authentically be 'me', as opposed to being someone who tries to fit a certain image, lifestyle, personality, through conditioning, and felt social pressure.

In a way, this is tantamount to having spent all that time dealing with an existential crisis. And I'm not saying this from a place of regret. On the contrary, all this searching for myself, has led me to have quite an adventurous life, slightly at the margin of what is defined as reasonable by social mainstream and norm.

Thus, while most of my peers were raising capital, and working diligently at building stability, I was continuously running away from reasonably sound and commendable commitments, continent hopping, hanging out with tribal medicine men, shamans, monks, yogis, gurus and even proclaimed avatars, trying to figure my 'Self' out.

Then, there are the romantic relationships I kept on getting involved in; all great candidates for being burned at the stake, had this been a different time, for being living, breathing, deeply creative and mysterious individuals.

Not to sound braggadocious, sometimes, I wonder how I made it through. And often, I even feel tempted to bet a 'biblical type of apple' that Taoism, Yoga, and some mostly very busy guardian angels have a lot to do with it.

And while, I'm no Indiana Jones, (can you tell my age from this reference?), or a unique case out there, I think I could definitely inspire the character-building of the protagonist in a movie or two!

On a more serious note, holistic yoga therapy sessions are private, and might include Yoga mudra and/or ShatKriya work, and if you're really good, Yoga Nidra.

If you are interested, just give me howler.

Until then, be well, and if the mood strikes you, stylish.
