Karim Fadali

Yoga instructor and enthusiast (22 years teaching experience), spiritual student and researcher (a lifetime), and bodyworker/physical therapist (15 years), Karim's introduction to the world of holistic eastern living/healing arts happened very early on in his life when, at age 6, his mother enrolled him in an Taoist Aikido School (in Casablanca, Morocco).

Karim has since, been traveling in a nomadic style, across the globe, seeking spiritual grounding, self-understanding self-reliance. He's gotten into yoga, along with Qi gong, to stay healthy and somehow fell in love with the richness of its multifaceted worlds.

While he doesn't consider himself a yogi, guru or enlightened being, Karim has spent a great deal of his time, since 1997, running yoga centers/studios and leading group and private classes, workshops, retreats and more recently teacher trainings, internationally.

As a direct student of Shri Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar, he is a third generation yoga teacher in the lineage of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. To this day, he has accumulated in his own student belt over 7000 hours of study with a number of amazing yoga masters, including Dale Morphew, Bob Smith and the Swenson brothers.

Passionate by spirituality since his childhood, Karim has spent a large portion of the past 18 years living in ashrams, temples, remote places, amidst indigenous communities, and in solitude, immersing himself in Taoism, shamanism, sufism, Vedanta, yoga and Tantra.

Some of his most influencial spiritual teachers are Tantra's Guru Kavaykantha Ganapati Muni, Advaita's Shri Ramana Maharshi, Aikido's Morihei Ueshiba, Shri Aurobindo, Alan Watts, a few wonderfully authentic people met along the way, the ocean and life.

Healing or Energy Balancing Arts

Interested in helping others, and being of service to the best of his ability, Karim sought to hone his skills as a bodyworker and massage therapist. He has 15 years of intermittent experience as practitioner of Thai yoga, Shiatsu, Tui Na, Deep tissue, rehabilitative therapy, cranio-sacral, acupressure and other energetic healing modalities -many with roots in shamanism.

Regarding the Yoga Alliance

For legal reasons, Karim is registered with Yoga Alliance US. However, Karim, (who has been involved in the world of yoga since a time where this Organisation -first created in the US, didn't exist, and couldn't even be conceived of as a viable regulatory body for yoga), doesn't agree with many of the principles with which the Yoga Alliance are operating.

Yet, just as one might 'operate', work, make a living and exist within a capitalist, life-devaluing, frame without agreeing with it, Karim chooses to work with the Yoga Alliance, while doing his best to create change in the way yoga will be regulated in the future.

One of the lessons we are invited to explore in yoga and other spiritual schools is one having to do with our relationship and position vis-à-vis the concept of Good versus Evil/Bad. Through the prism of Tantra, Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism and Taoism such a polarizing concept is a necessity in the dualistically polarized world we experience as reality, where Good and Evil/Bad are co-dependent of each other. Two sides of the same coin, as the saying goes.

The invitation from these spiritual schools is to live in harmony within the concept of Good vs Evil/Bad. To take sides without forgetting that there is always a larger picture in which opposites exist in harmony as one.

However, once a homebase is found, and there is more control over what type of work we do, Karim will dissociate himself from this organisation that has, one hopes inadvertantly, done a lot more damage to yoga as a discipline than good.

Healing; A Journey

To this day, and for over two decade now, Karim has been experientially exploring the wisdom of a wide range of traditions; (Taoism, Tantra, Buddhism and 'Shamanism'); driven by an innate impulse to seek/cultivate balance between strength and flexibility, equilibrium and freedom, openness and centeredness, always seeking a healthy interactive flow between the Yin and Yang aspects of self, as well as between the way of the Heart and the way of Will.

Certified and Registered therapist, (by TIBIA, in Wisconsin, and the Sunshine Network, in Thailand), as well as by other teachers encountered in various part of the world, Karim is available to help you return to a more natural balanced state of wellbeing, with a variety of bodywork/therapy, (Tui Na, Zero Balance, Thai Yoga Massage and Sound Therapy).
